Dalmia Centre for Research and Development (formerly Dalmia
Centre for Biotechnology), has been in operation since 1992.
It was established as a registered society under the Societies
Act of 1860. The organisation is ISO 9001-2000 certified
and with a policy of customer satisfaction achieved through

DCRD is accredited with the Department of Scientific and
Industrial Research (DSIR)-Ministry of Science and Technology,
Government of India Indian System of Medicine Department
of Ayurveda Yoga and naturopathy, Unani Siddha and Homeopathy
(Ayush) Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of
India. It is also affiliated to the Bharathiar University,
Coimbatore, in the field of Plant Biotechnology.
A not-for-profit institution, DCRD is carrying out projects
in the health segment with plants as the basis for development
of new drug formulations. The research areas range from
mental health segment with two products already in the market
namely, Learnol Plus and Attentio. In the respiratory health
segment, the two already in the market are ASTHA-15 and
LUNG-KR. Further areas include Endocrinology, Rheumatoid
Arthritis, Kidney Stone, Gall Bladder Stone, Hyper Lipidemia,
HIV etc. DCRD is one of the premier laboratories, undertaking
quality check of herbal raw materials and finished products.
A number of commercial organisations and pharmacies following
the Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy regularly get
their formulations tested at DCRD.
DCRD has been working in the area of Harm reduction fast
moving consumer products Low tobacco is a revolutionary
concept in the field of harm reduction where a smoker has
a choice of reducing the intake of tobacco smoke and associated
carcinogenesis. DCRD is a front runner and pioneer in the
conceptualization and creation of a low tobacco smoking
product “Loe Tabac”. The low tobacco formulation
is a mixture of tobacco and other Indian plant(s).
The organisation has several patents in different countries
and scientific publications in peer viewed journals.
